The War Memorial and commemorative tablet list the name of Lowther L. KITCHEN. The researchers believe that this is likely to be a misspelling as no Lowther L. KITCHEN is listed on the CWWG Site or Soldiers Died WW1. Further research is being carried out at this time.

It is likely that the monument commemorates Private Lowther Lonsdale Little KITCHING who was listed as living at Church Street, Shap prior to the war.
